This post is inspired by "Rise Up", sung by Andra Day.
You're broken down and tired Of living life on a merry go round And you can't find the fighter But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out And move mountains We gonna walk it out And move mountains
What does it take for you to rise up? Everyone’s reason to rise is unique, but process will be the same.
The challenge comes in getting off the merry-go-round, which can be fun at first, until it isn’t and we are just waiting for it to stop when all we have to do is find the fighter in us and take that first step.
If you are like most people, you will find that is so much easier to stop going in circles and stand up when you have someone just as eager with as you are to rise up.
People in your cheer corner can make a world of a difference. No one gets to where they are going alone.
But let’s face reality.
Rising up is often more easier said than done. But even in the most challenging of situations to rise, there is much comfort when someone is there with you. Having someone with you to cheer you on or even take on the challenge with you can be just what you need to rise up.
The physical act of rising up starts with the mindset to actually do so. Many of us are probably still in our new year mindset to workout. Even when we don’t want to, we find it within ourselves to make it happen.
There are also some of us who are still struggling to make that happen. The key here is to find out what it is that is holding you back. If it is not a physical issue, we have to take inventory of our mentality.
Mentally or physically, we will feel the aches and pains of taking those initial steps to rise up in the beginning.
And I'll rise up I'll rise like the day I'll rise up I'll rise unafraid I'll rise up And I'll do it a thousand times again And I'll rise up High like the waves I'll rise up In spite of the ache I'll rise up And I'll do it a thousand times again
All we need, all we need is hope And for that we have each other
To lessen the aches and pains, tell someone what your plans are to rise up so that you are not facing it alone.
Simply having someone check in on you to see how things are coming along can keep that spark going.
Others can share stories or ideas about ways that can help you get to your rise. Having others invest in you is often times what we need to succeed boost our confidence.
But first it starts with believing in yourself.
Rise unafraid, knowing that you are rising for reason and that it is well within your control. Those aches and pains will be there. But when you get to that thousandth rise, the soreness will no longer exist because our rise has now become a part of us.
